Story
My name is Charlie and I'm a young training Girlguiding leader aspiring to take part in the big Morocco Beach Clean as part of an international Girlguiding expedition. We plan to trek the coastlines around tourist hotspots to clean up its beautiful golden beaches. Plastic waste is a tremendous issue and according to current estimates, at least 8 million pieces of plastic are entering our oceans every single day. During our week we are striving to make as much of an impact as possible by arming ourselves with bags and gloves and tackling the problem head on whilst also spreading the word and encouraging others to join the cause.
Although I have been a Girlguiding volunteer for most of my teen years and I am incredibly passionate about the cause of the trip, my determination to take part also stems from my involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. During my secondary school years I successfully completed my Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and in order to complete my Gold I must partake in a residential. By participating in this compelling opportunity I will be able to achieve the final steps of the award before starting university in September.
Overall the experience would be amazing and life-changing to make a first-hand impact on a cause I am so strongly passionate about so I would be extremely grateful if you would consider my cause.
