Story
Hello,
Beginning on Wednesday 26th May at 8am, I will be joined in attempting the 4x4x48 challenge by Adam Turner and David Raffan in support of the Sunshine Campaign. Put simply this challenge involves running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.
The Sunshine Campaign was established in the wake of the death of Sonny Ferry in 2019. Whilst on a night out in York, Sonny slipped into the River Ouse and tragically lost his life. He was not alone. In that same year, five other families' lives were ripped apart when their loved ones died in similar circumstances. The Sunshine Campaign was organised by Sonny's family to try and ensure that no future family have to endure similar heartache and subsequently they have dedicated themselves to raising the £45’000 necessary to allow the York Rescue Charity to purchase a new rescue boat: the ‘Humbler Destroyer 7m’. Critically, this state of the art boat would not only dramatically improve the charities emergency response time, but also in the most dire circumstances, actually allow them to perform the necessary medical procedures to keep someone alive.
Please consider donating. Sonny’s family and friends have already done an incredible job of raising £32,565 of their £45’000 target. Whether you knew Sonny or not, your contribution could mean that one less family have to suffer the trauma of seeing a loved one pulled from the water….
I have attached a link below for the York Rescue Boat page where you can learn more about the lifesaving work they do and why a new boat is so important to their efforts in making York as safe a place as possible. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions. Thanks.
(I will be closing the page 2-3 days after the challenge and then once the funds have been processed by the JustGiving organisation, in a process which generally takes around 14 days, be transferring the raised funds across to the Sunshine Campaign page)
