I've raised £1500 to Buy medical supplies for a rural hospital in Sri Lanka

As part of my Adult Nursing degree, I have been given an amazing opportunity to select my elective placement in Sri Lanka - Kandy. This placement will take place in April 2018, where I will be spending four weeks working within the hospitals and communities. As part of the programme I am hoping to spend a week living with the locals learning how they create their own medication from natural resources. I have decided to Volunteer with a company called 'Work the World', who create a safe, enjoyable experience. This company hire local people to run the programme enabling us to see the real Sri Lanka, what the healthcare is really like and to also support their local communities. Although the destination I have chosen is going to be a once in a lifetime experience for myself, with great learning opportunities. I am also going to be able to give something back to the locals who are less fortunate with healthcare. I have decided to go abroad to a country that doesn't have the luxuries like the NHS to be able to give something back. I have chosen to work in cardiothoracics for two weeks, followed by a week in ICU and then a week living with a local family.
Speaking with work the world recently I have decided I would like to use the money raised to buy medical supplies for the local hospital that I will be attending. This local hospital is in a very rural village with limited supplies of medical equipment. With speaking to work the world they have advised that I don't give the money (cash) directly to the hospital in case it is spent inappropriately but to supply them with things such as bandages, slings, sterile drapes etc. They have also asked me to buy these in shops within Kandy to give back to the local businesses. The hospital its self is run by a doctor who practices with Ayurvedic Medicine (Tree medicine) therefore I don't think I will need to buy medications etc.
This is why I have set up a just giving page as I will be doing fund raising activities such as; obstacle races, cake sales etc. So please help me help the locals in Sri Lanka by donating even if just a few pence, every little helps. ;)
