Story

Hey everyone. I know there's a lot of these posts on Facebook but if you can have a quick read it would be appreciated. On Sunday the 15th of March me & my best mate Chris are taking art in the Dundee 1/2 Marathon. I was hoping to raise some money for the NICU at Ninewells Hospital. As many of you know my Nephew Charlie was born at 30 weeks. My sister Megan had to have an emergency c-section as Doctors were concerned about Charlie's health. When he was born Doctors discovered he had an infection called CMV. I won't go into the details but it has left Charlie with some long term complications including profound deafness in both ears. Everyone was worried & we didn't know if Charlie would pull through. He spent the first 10 weeks of his life in the NICU . When I went up to Ninewells I was amazed at all the equipment that was required to keep Charlie alive! I was also shocked at how many little ones needed to start their life off in the NICU all with different illnesses & conditions. While my sister was pretty much living in the unit the staff were unbelievable, I mean they were amazing people every one of them. Megan always said they kept her sane. Haha. One time I took Lucy up to the NICU she couldn't go into the ward for health reasons & 2 of the nurses gave Lucy little jumpers & nappies so she could but them on her baby & practice for her cousin coming home. All really lovely nice people & without the care, love & attention they gave Charlie I don't think he would be with us today. I just wanted to take this chance to hopefully raise some money as a way if giving back A tiny bit of what we received. If it means the money raised goes towards a new piece of machinery or just put towards making other families life's easier while staying at the NICU it would be great to give something back. Any donation you can give would be so appreciated. Thank you.
