Story

My twin sister was British triathlon Champion for three years in a row she also won silver and bronze medals in the European and world championships.

In 2001, against so many odds, Annie's great friend and training partner, Siri Lindley, won the ITU World Triathlon Championships in Edmonton, Canada. She is an extraordinary human being. Since retiring from triathlon Siri has dedicated her life to helping and supporting other human beings in so many ways, but it doesn't stop there, along with her wife Rebekah, they set up the Believe Ranch and Rescue Centre (www.believeranchandrescue.org) and so far have saved well over 100 horses from the slaughter house!

In November last year Siri very suddenly found herself facing her biggest challenge yet when she was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia). Siri began a 100 day journey away from home and her beloved horses, whilst she had chemotherapy, radiation and stem cell transplant. As a trial therapy the medical costs were always going to be huge! Also the fact Siri's vital pair of hands were not around to help at the Believe Ranch and Rescue centre for several months meant funds were and continue to be desperately needed to help make sure Siri's treatment went (and continues to go) as smoothly as possible as this would help remove the financial stress of running the ranch and enable Rebekah to keep up the ranch's incredible work of saving lifes.

Siri has now returned home to Boulder where her road to recovery will be a long and slow process, yet her work at the ranch continues at a relentless pace.

So I have decided in these strange and difficult times we are living in just now to do something to help others and right now Siri's cause seems the one that is pulling at my heart strings. I have decided to do a 5k (which for many of you I know is nothing) in the hope a few of my dear friends and family will help towards this precious cause. As many of you know I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis 12 years ago when my first little girl Mary was born so it's more of a challenge for me! I will mainly do bike training so I can save my knees and then just blast that 5k out on the day which will take place on Saturday 4th July.

Any support however small will go a long way in helping Siri's life saving treatment and help her and Bek continue to stop the unnecessary slaughter of 100s of healthy, beautiful horses...!

Thank you so much in advance for any small contribution you may be able to make it means so much ..

Masses of love and stay safe
