Story

What many tourists miss when visiting Fiji is the hardship in rural areas which lie beyond the resorts. The harsh reality in these communities is that over 75% of these families live below the poverty line and only 50% have access to safe drinking water. Less than 5% of children in the rural areas have access to lower education. Schools are in poor conditions and have little of the right materials needed for a good education. In addition to this since the worst cyclone experience by Fiji in 2016, just over 400 schools were damaged and have hindered the number of children being educated.

This Summer I will be volunteering in Fiji for a month. Whilst there, with ThinkPacific, I will be helping towards the development within the education system in particular kindergarten classes and early education. Also, I will be assisting in the house cup programme, which is designed to teach new extra-curricular activities such as sports, public speaking, singing and arts and crafts. I'm hoping to raise a contribution for the charity which will go towards continuing the work we start in the community and also providing infrastructure development.

All donations are greatly appreciated, thanks.
