Story
I am thrilled to have been selected to represent UK Girl Guiding at the 25th International Scout Jamboree which will be held in SaeManGeum, South Korea in the summer of 2023. 40,000 Scouts and Guides from 150 countries will attend and I feel very lucky to be attending as it was a tough selection process and I am one of 9 Guides selected from the whole of the South East and Greater London.
The jamboree is a skills, culture and adventure festival and the theme of the Jamboree is: ‘Think big, Dream wild, Act together’. When I am there, I will be sharing talents and learning lots of new skills as well as having the opportunity to campaign for change on key world issues. The jamboree will have a major focus on the environment, sustainabilty and global development issues and as part of this we will take part in an off-site community project. We will then share what we have learnt when we return.
In order to attend I need to raise £3800 and so I am planning a number of initiatives to raise funds and any support you can give would be greatly appreciated.
As the jamboree is focusing on environmental issues, over the next 6 months I am organising a series of litter picking sessions around Reigate and will be getting various groups of people involved to join me. I have also been car washing, baking cakes and selling home grown plants. In September I will be organising and running a quiz night.
I will keep this page updated with the dates of the various initiatives, and if anyone would like to attend any of them that would be great.
Thank you in advance for any support you can give.
