Story

Hi again,

As most of you know, we volunteer every Wednesday night with the Sunday Supper Project, handing out hot meals, chatting over a cup of tea and providing anything necessary (wipes, gloves etc.). We have noticed an influx of people recently, and it is bound to increase after the rising cost of living. Not only this, but it is not just people who are already on the streets suffering; there are so many people who are deciding whether they freeze or go hungry. The government is not doing enough (if anything) to help those in need.

So, on November 9th, Jess, Corinne and I will be taking part in our own sleepout; it will be for 24 hours. The idea behind this is to step into a homeless person's shoes for 24 hours to understand what they go through daily. We will only be able to spend £3; this is about the average they have to spend each day, without the help of strangers. It will be on a Wednesday, so we can see what it's like from the other side and allow the Sunday Supper Project to help us with dinner and a hot drink to warm me up. One of our regular friends who comes to see us each week has said he will ensure we are safe overnight, keeping us company in a safe spot. The idea behind this is to know what it's like to go to sleep in this city of ours, wake up and wonder how we will be able to have breakfast, and how hard it is to be out on the streets with pennies to our names. We will be doing this to raise money and awareness of what our most vulnerable go through every day.

The money we raise from the 24-hour sleep-out will be split between; the Sunday Supper Project, to carry on providing necessities each week for those in need. Fans Supporting Foodbanks, who provide to not only those on the streets but those who cannot afford to feed their families at home. The Home is Where The Heart Is, which provides young people support before they end up on the streets or whilst on the streets and a place to call their own.

I (Char) will also be taking part in the Goodison Sleepout, which is on the 18th of November. Last year I raised over £1000 for the Home Is Where The Heart Is, there will be a separate page for this as I will be doing it as part of a group, but as I know, life is a struggle for a lot of people right now, you will not need to donate twice as I will use some of the money from this 24-hour Sleepout to put towards the Goodison Sleepout fundraising.

Please donate what you can! We are aiming for £2500 but we would obviously love to fundraise as much as possible, as it is split between three great causes. If you cannot donate, we understand but please share to people who may. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, YOU'RE ALL BEAUTIFUL HUMANS, you all know how much this means to us.
