Story

My name is Charlotte and last year I applied to go to the 24th World Scout Jamboree 2019 in West Virginia, USA as part of the UK contingent. Unfortunately at the time I was not selected, however, a phone call at the end of May 2018 changed all of that. I was recalled from the reserve list. FANTASTIC!!!

Along with 80 other Explorers and Scouts from the Devon & Guernsey Units 71 & 73, I now need to start fundraising ASAP. Whilst in the USA we will be attending the Jamboree, a Big City experience, a Home Hospitality visit and a whole UK event.

I've been part of Scouting as long as I can remember, starting as a Beaver then onto Cubs, Scouts and now Explorers. I have been part of many Scout Groups over the years and am now an Explorer with 11th Torbay (Barton), Sea Scouts in Torquay. Along the way I have achieved my Silver and Gold Chief Scouts awards, attended camps across the UK and met many scouts from around the world. I'm also a Young Leader and help out at a local Beaver colony.

The funds raised will go towards my flights, equipment, the Jamboree fee and the 5 training weekends prior to the event. I have already made a start and in addition, plan to raise funds through raffles, craft fairs and sponsored events.

I would be most grateful for any donations to help me achieve this goal.

I look forward to sharing my adventure when I return!
