I volunteer for the most wonderful animal sanctuary. Lotus Lamb and Sheep Sanctuary is home to about 200 rescued animals. There are sheep, pigs, chickens, turkeys, horses, donkeys, ponies, and llamas! It is entirely volunteer run. The sanctuary is moving to a beautiful new home in Ashington in July. This is good news, but comes with associated costs.

I thought what better way to help the sanctuary than to do a sponsored spin. The move coincides with the ‘Tour de Fleece’, an annual event where spinners all over the world spin alongside the Tour de France. I intend to spin one metre for every kilometre the cyclists cycle. The wool I will be spinning comes from the sheep looked after by the sanctuary, and all funds raised go back towards looking after them.
