Weʼre raising £1,000 to fund a trip to Nepal to undertake research for the Glacier Trust - a UK based charity that work alongside Nepali NGOs
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page!! :)
As some of you may know I am currently studying an MSc in Sustainability at the University of Southampton. As part of my MSc dissertation I will be travelling to Nepal to undertake research for the Glacier Trust with another Nepalese MSc student.
Nepal and its local communities are suffering at the hands of climate change. As a result, many of the communities have had to change the crops that they are growing becuase the changing climate does not support the crops they used to grow. This is significant because over 80% of the population rely on agriculture as their source of income. It is unknown what impact this has had on local communities. I will be travelling to Nepal to undertake research for The Glacier Trust to find out how this is impacting local communities, specifically in the Solukhumbu District. I will be exploring how moving to coffee farming (because they can no longer grow what they used to because of the changing climate) has impacted their livelihoods. This research will ultimately help The Glacier Trust understand how this has impacted the community, which will allow them to react accordingly and help these communities with this adaption.
I am so lucky that the Glacier Trust will be part funding this trip, however, I need a little bit of help to make up the rest. I know this isn't the normal post, but this research will help the Glacier Trust to help these communities adapt to climate change.
If you would like to find out more about what I will be doing and who I will be helping then please have a look at the Glacier Trust website http://theglaciertrust.org/solukhumbo
Thank you again :)
