So on the 15th June I will be running the 10km canal canter summer extravaganz! (I've also let Kerry join me just so I'm not last!!😜) I've chosen this date as it's right between the dates of my sister accident and her death last year. Ever since her accident I've always wanted to give something back to the ward that cared so amazingly for her in the 4 weeks she lived after her accident. As running is my new thing! something I turned to to try give myself something to focus on and stay positive at a really hard time in my life! I thought it would be a perfect way to raise some money for ward 6 Neuro intensive care unit at the Leeds general infirmary. Spending literally everyday with fiona in that 4 weeks, I spent hours sat by her side on that ward watching whilst nurses, doctors did everything in their power physically possible to give Fiona a chance! and that they did absolutely amazingly 😘 sadly nothing was ever guna be enough for her. After a relative is admitted to that ward you are thrown unexpectedly into this icu bubble living and breathing it all day everyday, such a hard place to be physically and emotionally draining😢 staff don't just care for their patients they care for families aswell! making sure everyone is kept fully informed and most of all making sure their caring for themselves at such a hard time. Whilst spending so much time on the ward I noticed alot of the things they have ie coffee machines, patient bedside fans, paintings in waiting rooms had all been donated by past relatives of patients of that ward all little things but things that make a massive difference. I'm not wanting to raise massive amount just enough to give a little back please help in anyway you can 😘💖😘 xxx
