I've raised £2000 to help fund a placement abroad with SLV, aiming to improve the mental health of vulnerable individuals in Sri Lanka.

On the 10th of June I will be traveling to Sri Lanka to participate in a voluntary mental health placement with SLV Global. This UK based company provides support for vulnerable individuals, who are living in Sri Lanka, where resources for those living with mental illnesses are scarce. As well as helping to improve the mental health of these individuals, this placement will provide me with the opportunity to gain highly valuable experience in the mental health sector, helping me to further my Psychology degree.
During my 4 weeks there, i will take the role of an 'Activity Support Worker' - running therapeutic activity sessions for individuals living with a range of mental health issues and disabilities, as well as teaching English at a variety of settings in the local community. I will have the opportunity to learn from local professionals whilst working at psychiatric facilities and rehabilitation centres. This unique experience will give me a important insight into the mental health sector.
The money I raise will be used to compensate the local family who I will be living with for the 4 weeks, flights to Sri Lanka, my placement fee, my travel insurance, vaccinations and a Visa. Any donation, whatever size, will be greatly appreciated and will help make funding my trip possible.
Many thanks, Charlotte:)
