I am trying to raise the awareness in bone marrow disease in young people and help people understand the devestating impact it has on those who suffer from it. I care because I was in hospital for nearly 3 years when i was only 21years old i had a botched appendix operation that led to boul damage and 5operations in 2years. I went through a terrible time and nw only have a third of my boul severe crohns disease and arthritus all over my body and ankylosing spondylytus.(curved spine). My friend has been a diabetic since he was 14 he is now 30 and was rushed into hospital 5 weeks ago and has been diagnosed with bone marrow disease. His body has no bone marrow and he is currently awaiting a transplant. His immune system is struggling to battle with the disease and he is very depressed. I want to do something go help him his children and a charity that will go on for many years after we are both gone. I am going to do a number of fundraising events to help him with his struggle as he has been told that he wont be able to work again. The first thing I am planning to do is jump out of a plane to raise sone money for him and the charity after that i am open to other ideas as i think it is importantthat people understand how life threatening this disease is. I think all diseases should be looked at equally and that we as people that are more able ahould try and help those in need my other great passion is helping those that struggle with mental illnesses the mind is a very fragile thing and as someone who suffered depression for many years it took me a long time to overcome and start to do little things like volunteer to help those that really struggle so i have set myself some goals to help as many people as possible and raise awareness in all illnesses and disease as i think all should be recognised as potentially life threatening
