Story
For the last 2 years a good friend of many of us on the club scene Claire Bower has been battling breast cancer. On Friday 22nd September Cheeky Tracks are hosting a hard dance event at Sub 101 in Manchester, and since the event was organised Claire has sadly been diagnosed with secondary cancer in her liver and spine. Throughout everything Claire has always remained positive and fought her illness with a smile on her face, so in her honour Cheeky Tracks will be donating £1 from every ticket sold to Nottingham Breast Cancer Support Group, who have been a big help to Claire throughout her illness, and we will also be fundraising on the night. We have set up this page on request for those wanting to make a donation who can't be there on the night, or simply wish to give a bit extra while they can.
The Nottingham Breast Cancer Support Group is run by ladies who have had breast cancer and has been running for over 25 years.
Meetings take place on the third Tuesday of every month at the Breast Institute from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
The group offers emotional and practical support to anyone who has been affected by breast cancer - including partners, family and friends - based on our own experiences. They have a variety of speakers at the monthly meetings which are held in an informal and friendly atmosphere. You can chat over a cup of tea or coffee with each other or confidentially talk with volunteers who have been trained by the breast care specialist nurses. Meals and trips out are also arranged each year.
In addition to providing mutual support, they have raised more than £300,000 and every penny is donated either to research undertaken at Nottingham City Hospital or to enhance breast cancer patient care.
