I've raised £800 to Raise Money for my Zambian Elective Placement 2019

I am currently a Second Year Student Midwife Studying at the University of Bradford. In August 2019, I have the opportunity to carry out an Elective Placement and I have decided to go to Zambia, Africa.
I have always had an in interest in Africa, and have always wanted to go and offer my services to the poverty stricken continent and help in some way. That's why I have decided to go to Lusaka, Zambia, so that I can offer my help to their Maternity Services while also developing my own skills and experiences.
Working and observing the care that is provided to women in Zambia, will really help me to understand the basic maternity care that is provided within the NHS. The skills I will develop while being in Zambia, will help me in my future career in becoming a Midwife. I hope to build resilience and develop my knowledge and understand for 'high risk' obstetric care i.e. Breech Birth, Post-Partum Haemorrhage, Blood Disorders, High Blood Pressure and Pre-eclampsia. Developing this knowledge will help me to provide care to women effectively as I will have the level of understanding that is needed to respond quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.
Your donations will help with the total cost of my elective which will be around £3000.
-£1750 for accommodation and services from Work the World.
-Around £900 for flights, visas and insurance.
-£500 spending money while I am out there.
-Immunisations and medical necessities.
I would also like to take care packages out there to provide to women as a lot of the basic resources we have here they do not have access to in Zambia. I would like to take things like baby clothes, bathing creams for mum and baby, maternity pads, breast pads, nipple cream and any other things I believe women will find useful.
I would like to thank anyone that makes a donation, big or small, towards this once in a lifetime experience!
Please feel free to share my page!
Thanks Again,
Chelsea x
