Story

Hi, my name is chelsey parker. On october 7th i fell down the stairs second from top as my daughter left her plastic dog toy which i stood on, it felt sharp and i loss control and fell. I think i blacked out for a minute then screamed for my husband. I couldnt move my ankle, agony. Once paradmedics arrived they had to carry me across the garden as they classed the steps outside my home dangerous. I broke my ankle in 3 places got rushed to surgery, in surgery they put plates in and screws. They tried to put 3rd plate in but my bone completley shattered. i got told afterwards they done what they could but i nearly lost my limb. And i will be in pain permantley and unsure what my mobility will be like once i have my cast removed and i learn to walk again. I also have nuropathic pain syndrome which is very painful. I was in hospital over two weeks, the hospital wouldnt help with transport as of the 8 steps outside my house. So i had to crawl up them which was very painful and took a long time to do. I am now living in my small front room with a bed, sofa, commode, walking frame and a few house hold bits. And a toddler and older child that has no room. im stuck in one room which is not good for my mental health. got told i would have an ot out in a week to be told could be months. on friday the 26th october i had an ambulance out to me as i was in excruciating pain and my foot and toes swelled so they took me in but again health and safety i had to bum shuffle down the outside steps they was giving me gas and air until i reached the stretcher it was so painful even with the pain reliefe. When i went home following evening it was 5 degrees i had to crawl up the steps which was agony caused lots of pain and was in tears. Took me over an hour. i cant shower or get out of my house. My husband has had to have time of work which leaves us struggling with no income. So hope this can change. With the donations we will put towards getting either a ramp of some sort or a drive way. Update- I had an OT out the lady was lovely, said she will tell the council what her recomendations are Which is a ramp of some sort or a drive way so i can leave my house as its too dangerous to risk my ankle and the stairs are all different sizes that dont help, also i will need wet room etc. But the housing manager has said he will leave apdaptations until i have had my yearly review! As i may be able to walk normally even though doctors have said i need to leave the house and i cant expect to stay in one room for a year, or not have a shower... 2 weeks ago he said he has money in the pot to do the house so i can go to my future hospital appointments.. Im very upset this has turned our lives upside down. Also got told if i want to get out i need to pay for it. I so hope i can soon. Thank you for reading my story.
