Story
My friend Chelsey comes from a remote and poor rural community in China. She works in the Education sector in Shanghai and is the first person in her family to go to university. Chelsey became a Christian while studying for a Master’s degree, at King's College London. Her baptism, at St Peter’s Vauxhall, was a joy for our church family. Will you join me in helping Chelsey pay for her final year as a doctoral student, at King’s?
So far, Chelsey has financed her education entirely from her own savings and by doing multiple part-time jobs in London. (A remarkable achievement motivated by a deep sense of God's calling to grow and be of service.) Her plan was to self-fund 100% but the steep cost of being a student in the Capital means she now needs to rely on private gifts and loans to bridge the gap. Her deadline for payment to the university is 30 October 2025.
Below are testimonials to Chelsey’s inspirational commitment to her faith and studies as well as photographs of her volunteering at church and in the doctoral school, plus a link to her academic research profile.
"Chelsey is one of the hardest working students I have met. We all feel that she will do well and has great future potential as a researcher. Moreover, she helps her student colleagues who have elected her to be a Student Representative for our centre.” Professor Meg Maguire, King’s College London
"Bishop Christopher was moved to hear Chelsey’s story when he visited us. She is a cherished member of our congregation who is always willing to help and has a gift for welcoming visitors and sharing her faith." Reverend Michael John, Priest-in-Charge, St Peter’s Vauxhall
