This year myself and Ryan were lucky enough to be pulled out of the London Marathon ballot for 2021 (or should I say not so lucky for me). I am officially entered and have begun my training to endure my first marathon, 26.2 miles wish me luck!.

My story

Following the sudden passing of my Dad Robert 3 years ago, I have become very passionate about raising awareness of grief and how our mental health can be impacted because of our loss. Some of you may know I write my grief and mental health blog www.bereavedat22.co.uk and I am the girl behind the Instagram account called @Bereavedat22.

Through these platforms I have connected with other young adults all over the world who have experienced their own bereavement and loss. This has provided me with a network of support when I have needed it the most. I have also realised how many other young adults would benefit from accessing support via therapy, but might not have the means of paying for private therapy, or are on a waitlist, often causing them to have to wait 6+ months before they can access support.

What will the fundraising go towards?

The funds that are raised will pay for young adults and individuals who wouldn’t have the financial means to access private therapy via Affordable Talk, a community interest company (CIC) here in Cardiff.

Affordable Talk’s aim is to make counselling, CBT and psychotherapy accessible for all. They offer online therapy and face to face therapy at their offices in Cardiff and Swansea; they offer short and long-term therapy for a wide range of issues.
