I'm raising £1000 to support the development of Warwick Women's Rugby Team

Story

I’ll be taking on the Outlaw 70.3 — a 113km triathlon — in May to raise money for Warwick Women’s Rugby Club (WWRFC).

Women’s rugby has grown significantly over the past few years, with the Women’s Six Nations and Her Game Too bringing new interest and attention to the game. Thanks to the remarkable work of our exec team and individual members, we’ve seen that growth at Warwick too.

As a club, we work hard to meet the needs of all our players, especially when it comes to providing new opportunities. The money we hope to raise will go towards supporting the growth of our seconds team, replacing equipment and kit, and funding players interested in pitch-side first aid or refereeing. We also want to keep building opportunities beyond our own team. Our Inner Warrior programme gives WWRFC the chance to work alongside other university teams to share skills and create connections across the women’s game.

While university rugby may not be the first cause that comes to mind when you think about fundraising, it holds a very personal meaning to me. It is easy to forget how lonely moving to a new county can feel, especially as you try to juggle a career with medical school and family responsibilities. WWRFC quickly became a safe and inclusive space where I could make mistakes and learn with the full support of the team. On difficult days, they've held the tackle bags, they've baked cookies, and they've cheered me on at every feat. As you follow my 70.3 journey, I hope you also get the chance to appreciate the work our club is doing to bring visibility, representation and empowerment to women’s sport.

Please consider donating whatever you can and follow along to watch our loosehead prop take on a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and 21.1km run... what could possibly go wrong?
