I've raised £500 to to help protect the beautiful but fragile Mesoamerican Reef system stretching from Mexico to Honduras

Thank-you for visiting my fundraising page.
On 30th June I’ll be completing a ‘Marine Marathon from Reef to Reef’, starting at the Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve and reef at Kimmeridge and running, biking and paddleboarding 26.2 miles along the hilly Jurassic Coast, to finish at Urban Reef in Boscombe.
I‘m doing this to raise money for the MAR Fund, a not for profit organisation dedicated to protecting the Mesoamerican Reef, which stretches 1,000 kms from Mexico down to Honduras. This is the second largest reef system in the world and is home to thousands of fish, manatees, whale sharks and coral, all of which are under threat from pollutants, coastal development, over-fishing, climate change and the impact of tourism. Anyone who has been lucky enough to dive coral reefs or has watched David Attenborough‘s Blue Planet series will appreciate just how beautiful, and just how fragile, these reef systems are. The MAR fund is passionate about preserving these reefs for the benefit of the communites who depend on them today as well as for future generations. I am planning to go out to Guatemala to do some volunteer work for MAR later this year to support more directly the great work they do. Check out the MAR Fund here
It is clear now that our actions are having a significant impact on the world’s oceans. They are under threat now as never before in human history. Surely we have a responsibility to care for our blue planet.
