Story

well where do we start.... George Paterson is the best husband, dad, grandad and father in law, he has the most kindest heart and he would do anything he could for his family and friends. On the 15th of December 2017 George was walking the dog and slipped on some black ice he then went home and felt fine it was the next day when he felt a pain the ball of his leg and fell to the floor.. he went to the monklands hospital where he was told it was badly bruised and they sent him home with crutches which he couldn't use because he has complex regional pain syndrome in his left hand. After suffering the pain for days and constantly having falls around the house he then went back hospital a few times still being told it was bad bruising still not knowing the fall was the cause of all of this... a year has went on and George has lost all feeling from his toes up to his knee and to help him he has been wearing a ankle walker which has later been said is no use for him. After numerous hospital appointments he went to see Orthotics at Wishaw General where he was casted for a splint.. after waiting for a few weeks he got his splint and was pretty much left to deal with it himself with no help from physiotherapists. His leg then started to get worse where it started locking and he would just fall to the ground where he had to be lifted by us or anyone physical enough to lift him. He was rushed to hospital twice in an ambulance because it started affecting his breathing and on one occasion he was left to lie outside for 2 and a half hours in the cold waiting on an ambulance he was only just back from another hospital appointment in November...Covers had to be brought out to him and cushions to make him more comfortable which is an absolute disgrace! some of his falls have even went as far as him collapsing in the kitchen face first on to the tiles causing him concussion, a broken nose and black eyes. His memory hasn't been great since and it has really affected his mental health. After trying to get some help from local authorities for an electric wheelchair to get him out the house he was refused as he wasn't unmobile enough in their eyes. After a lot of tests there's still no diagnosis they have put it down as spastic paresis which they have no cure for he is now getting a stair lift and that’s it. As a family we would like to help George as much as we can and to raise funds. David and myself will be doing a walk to Ibrox from airdrie on the 23rd of Feb 2019.. please help as much as you can as anyone who knows george knows he's a hard working family man who has been left housebound. We love you George xx
