Weʼre raising £3,500 to start up a community fridge in Chesham

What is a Community Fridge?
Community Fridges are communal places where surplus food is shared by local businesses and individuals. They have helped thousands connect to their communities, access nutritious food, save money and reduce waste.
Our Mission is to establish a community fridge in Chesham:
This would be a free facility for all persons.
It will provide free food to the local community and reduce waste
We aim to be a bridge to re-distribute this surplus food, benefitting both the community and the environment.
We hate waste, particularly food waste! Why not help others and save the environment at the same time? Anyone can use the fridge and anyone can donate food to the fridge (within our food guidelines).
The average family wastes £470 per year by throwing away food and drink and £3bn is wasted by the food sector. Despite a growing awareness of food waste there are few easy ways for people or businesses to get food near its “sell-by date” to others .
We believe this project will especially benefit those people managing on tight budgets, improving people's diets by having access to fresh fruit and vegetables to supplement their grocery shopping and lessening the pressure on their expenditure.

Thank you all for your support. Our shed is being built next week and the electrics should be going in the week after. The project is slowly getting there. We'll post a picture of the shed when it is up!

A great way to use food that would otherwise be wasted; such a lovely idea for the local community.
