Story
Our students have discovered a love for chess — a game that builds strategic thinking, patience, and resilience. It’s been wonderful to see how much confidence and focus they’ve developed across the board (pun intended!).
Unfortunately, our current chess sets have seen better days — cracked boards, missing pieces, and bent plastic. As much as we’d love to replace them, our local school budgets simply don’t stretch to club resources like this.
That’s why I’m setting up this fundraiser to raise £500 to buy club-quality chess sets and boards from the London Chess Centre. With your help, we can give our students — and others across local schools — the chance to play on proper equipment that shows them their efforts, and their potential, are valued.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference. Together, we can show these young people that there are people out there who believe in them — and who want to help them think bigger, plan ahead, and keep playing.
Thank you for helping us make our local school chess clubs something truly special.
NOTE: This fundraiser is organised by Stephen Froggatt on behalf of the South Worcestershire Methodist Circuit. Funds raised will be used by the Circuit to purchase chess equipment for schools within the area, helping to promote chess and its many benefits across multiple settings.
♟️ Goal: £500
🕹️ Funds used for: High-quality boards, pieces, and clocks from the London Chess Centre
