Story

We're raising money for 3 different charities:

Firstly, Parkinson's UK to support their ongoing excellent work helping those affected by Parkinson's disease and their family. This includes one of our group, Isaac, whose grandma lives with this condition; this condition directly affects over 145,000 people in the UK (1 in every 350 adults), however wider families are also affected by a member's suffering. Parkinson's UK influence and fund groundbreaking research to further understand and improve treatments for Parkinson's, as well as offering support and opportunities to live life to the full for everyone with Parkinson's, their families and carers.

Our second charity is the Get A-Head Charitable Trust, who are dedicated to fighting head and neck cancer and other diseases, by raising awareness, education, medical research. Get A-Head have helped another of our group, Ben, whose mother was diagnosed with cancer 9 years ago: thanks to treatment she was fortunately able to overcome this. Get A-Head has helped his family greatly, and with our help they can help many others out there that are affected by cancer. Here is a short video about Ben's mum, and her cancer story: https://youtu.be/GYAv9bGYOsI

Our third and final charity is the Marie Curie Hospice, West Midlands. All three of us have been affected by cancer indirectly, either losing family or friends' family members to this awful disease. Any cancer-related charity is extremely worthwhile, however this charity means more to us, because Adam (a close friend of our ToughMudder group) recently lost his father, Phil Partridge, who was a kind and selfless friend, and hugely active member of the community. His loss hurt us all, and in his memory we hope to raise funds for the hospice that cared for him so fantastically: Marie Curie Hospice, Solihull. The hospice costs £9,600 per day to run, and our funds would contribute just a little bit to this truly worthwhile cause.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our chosen charities,

The ToughMudders
