The crew from Chew Magna Fire Station and other firefighters around the service will be taking part in the Chew Valley 10k wearing fire kit. Some firefighters are going to take on the challenge of completing the 10k wearing our breathing apparatus sets which weigh approximately 29lbs.

With the support from our local community we are aiming to raise £500 for two great charities, The firefighters Charity and Cancer Research UK.

The Fire Fighters Charity supports the health and wellbeing needs of all serving and retired members of the UK's fire services community; offering specialist, lifelong support to thousands of serving and retired personnel every year from traumatic incidents that can have short or long term effects.

Cancer Research UK is the only charity fighting over 200 types of cancer. So when you give to Cancer Research UK, they think carefully about where we spend the income across all cancer types.

They have 17 areas of research you can choose to fund online. From bowel cancer to children’s cancers or simply where the need is greatest.

In the UK, someone is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes and your donation will make a real difference to those affected by cancer, now and in the future. Every pound is important they committed £443m to research in 2021 thanks to our supporters.
