Story
Vandals set fire to the memorial bench at Cadbury Heath Football Club in memory of Terry Green who passed away at Springfield whilst maintaining the ground 4 1/2 years ago. A disgusting act that has destroyed a memorial to a beloved member of the Cadbury Heath Committee and someone who was part of the fabric of the club. This mindless act has caused great hurt to everyone at the club, but most importantly great pain to Terry's family. We have been inundated by sympathy across the Bristol Football Community and lots of kind offers of donations. We now intend to replace his bench with a metal bench in order to avoid any repeat of this despicable act - we have increased the target to £1,000 to reflect this. Any funds from kind donations left over will be split 50/50 between a Charity of the Green family's choice and the Cystic Fibrosis Comfort Fund. Thank you to everyone that supports this fundraiser across the Bristol Football Family - we continue to engage with South Gloucestershire Council to allow us to lock the gates to Springfield overnight to stop a repeat of any damage to the replacement metal bench and to mitigate the risk of repeat of vandalism in the ground.
