Story

I am a qualified Children and Adults Yoga Instructor and i have just come back from travelling India. During my travels I have visited and spent some time in the "Slums" of Delhi with a friend of mine who has founded "Street School" to lend a hand and have some fun with the kids doing some yoga in the park. These children need so much more than a few hours of fun with me they need your help!!!

"Street School" of Delhi is totally self financed by a very small generous group of people and it's giving a chance to learn, to have food and proper clothes to approx 30 children from the Delhi "Slums".

I have asked a few questions to Santan Jha, Founder of the "Street School" please continue reading ...

Q. Santan, tell me about the Children's life...

"from the slums around 86% of the kids don't have access to schools due to financial problems. Their parents can't support them as they do not have a steady job and if they do they earn much too little which they use to buy food once or twice a week.

Not all the children have parents and they are left to fend for themselves. Some of the children have a small job in the city - i.e. picking up trash - and they might get as little as the equivalent to 60p per day.

The kids are happy to come to school but they can't afford their books, pencil etc. They are also happy to come to school when we can give them an extra meal twice or three times a month.

Children being children like playing games so we try to do extra activities on weekends taking them to the park, doing some drawings, yoga, singing etc.

Q. What can we do to help them?

"to help this children we can give them an education as they are happy to come to school every day.

You can help by raising funds to help with the school rent, teacher and staff salary, weekly food, books, stationary, clothes and shoes."

Please Help Me hep these lovely children!!

Thank you and a Merry Christmas to All
