Story

The companies that run school hatching projects, do so under the pretense that when the chicks are sent back to them, they are given loving, forever homes. This is not the case. Ducklings are fed up & are slaughtered at 8 - 12 weeks to become meat. Hens may be kept as breeders or egg layers but will be slaughtered when they become 'spent' at 18 months old. Cockerels are not financially viable, so are killed imminently. You can find out more information about school hatching projects here: https://www.animalaid.org.uk/education/education-resources/hatching-projects-primary-schools/

To begin rescuing chicks from school hatching projects I am in need of some funds for cages, electric brooders, feeders, food, runs and possibly hutches. I have three hens of my own currently, with room for a few more. My main aim is to foster the chicks until they are of an age where they can be re-homed to join their forever families. Eventually, I'm hoping to acquire some land to keep a bachelor flock of rescued cockerels.

I am currently campaigning to bring an end to school hatching projects. You can also help by contacting me regarding schools taking part in your area and by signing this petition: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/220659

Thanks so much for your support.
