    Story

Kirsty Baird, founded and funded Chief Radio in May 2020. Kirsty's band, 'Hanley and the Baird' released the single, 'Follow the Rainbows' which went straight into the Scottish charts at No.3 and No.27 in the UK Download Charts. The success of this was helped only by the bands fanbase and community radio stations across the country.

Commercial Radio stations chose to play only established artists and songs. At which point, Kirsty identified both, a need for a more level playing field for unsigned artists and more choice for listeners. Chief Radio website

The Scottish station will provide radio play opportunities to unsigned artists and experience to individuals who want to work on or run their own radio shows. There are many ways to be involved as a volunteer. You don't have to be the next 'Boogie in the morning' although you may turn out to be.

Initially this page was set up to help support the running costs of Chief Radio. Kirsty has now decided that she will continue to fund it and that all donations will go towards the community. Either buying Alexa Speakers for care homes or to provide FREE music, singing and art classes for everyone. Keeping music and the arts accessible for everyone.

Kirsty Baird is also the founder and Director of Sing in the City. She believes that everyone should have access to music. Lack of confidence or money should not stop anyone from taking up an instrument or singing in a choir or starting their own business.

Live music should be encouraged and supported as there is a plethora of original music and artists out there that could be tomorrows number 1 and these people should be on Scottish Radio. Community connections should be embraced, it's our world and we should change the things that need changing to make it the best place it can be.

Hi all, So we are 2 weeks in. We had an awful start which we kept to ourselves and fought through it. Without getting too complex, our first first host / supplier was awful. They kept cutting off the shows, they didn't give us the bandwidth we were paying for and it was almost like they were against us. By the 4th day we sourced another company and did an all nighter to switch over. The new guys and software seems amazing and we learned tons. You always seem to learn more from the bad stuff they don't you. Anyway onwards and upwards :)

We are 7 days away from launch and still working hard to make sure our DJs shows, unsigned artists, software, new equipment is all working as it should. We havn't even played a tune yet but can already see areas where more money is going to have to be spent to improve the service. From this money we have spent £200 to donate to 4 Carehomes for 4 Amazon Alexa speakers to play the Rock the Care home show. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far.

Great cause Kirsty. With my wee mum in a care home, I understand how difficult it is for them to listen to music they want to hear. Carry on your excellent work.
