I've raised £5000 to An on going fundraising page for running costs for Edinburgh Radio Station Chief Radio. It costs £10,000 a year to keep Chief on air. Thanks

Story

Support Chief Radio as we try to support others.

We started Chief on the 27th July in the middle of a pandemic with not much experience, little money but we had a great idea. A radio station that at grass root level would support unsigned and independent bands and it's local community..

We have supported over 700 bands, we helped raise over £22,000 with Sing in the City, we donated 59 Alexa Speakers to Scottish Care homes, we provided online parties for people who could celebrate, we started a group Guitar class and Rookie DJ session. While it was hard in 2022/21 to connect in real time with people we did our best to keep our listeners together and managed to get our listening base to 11,000 per month, now more with Edinburgh DAB

If you have spare money to support us that would be great but don't feel obliged.

We will continue to need money for DAB, licences, music, equipment etc and also it helps fund the Group Guitar Class & provide Rookie DJ sessions. It also helps pay for the Chief Radio app which is available on Android or iPhone.

Please see our website to understand who we are and what we do.

Kirsty Baird set up Chief Radio when the Hanley & the Baird single Follow the Rainbows got to No 3 in the Scottish chart and No 27 in the UK chart yet none of our local stations would play it. Only the community radio stations up and down the country featured it.

With a year of experience she now realises that what we listen to on our 'go to local commercial stations is governed by London and really isn't local at all.
