For those of you who don't know me, I'm Tanyel and I have been involved in the Children's Burns Club since the age of 8.

When I was 16 months old, I suffered with burns from pulling a fresh pot of boiling tea down from the table, which spilled all over my face and body. Luckily, I have an amazing dad who was able to think quick and not panic in the emergency, he stuck me in cold water in the bath, wrapped me in a cold wet towel and took me to the nearest A&E. I was then rushed to the specialist Burns Unit at St Andrews hospital in Billericay, Essex, where they worked their magic!

I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones. Although my face probably got the worst of it, they managed to save it and I am now only scarred on my chest and arm. My parents helped loads as I was growing up, not just with emotional support, but through daily treatments to protect and moisturise my skin. There are so many other children I have met who have not been as lucky.

The charity was set up in 1995 by Pat Wade (who has since received an MBE because she is literally amazing!) to unite and support young burn survivors. As children, growing up can be difficult enough as it is for being in any way slightly different compared to other kids. To be brought together with fellow survivors, for an annual fun-filled activity week was the highlight of my year! It helped me so much growing up to realise I wasn't alone and more importantly, that my accident and my scars do not define me. I learned to accept and LOVE them and to be grateful that really, it could have been worse! Since my time attending the 'Burns Club', the charity has expanded and is now able to offer further support to young survivors through therapy sessions and workshops.

I could go on waaay more about how the charity has helped me and others, and give you more stories about other survivors, but let's get on to the party itself!

I am throwing this party for a couple of reasons: 1 - the money raised can go towards keeping these sessions and fun activities running and for more survivors to be able to attend; and 2 - after the success of the Halloween party I organised back in 2015, I just wanted to beat the amount of fun we had then (and the amount of money raised too).

This years party, will be held on Saturday 3rd February, 7pm till late, at the Greater Than Gatsby Bar, 201 High Street, Bromley, BR1 1NY.

There will be a finger food buffet/nibbles, a raffle with lots of exciting prizes, prizes to be won for best dressed and other contests and fun games... and of course plenty of alcohol (and soft drinks) will be available from the bar for you to purchase!

All you need to do to attend the party is:

- Submit your JustGiving donation (we are recommending a minimum of £5)

- Sign your name so that we can add you to the guest list

- Forward this page to your bestests (the more the merrier!)

- Don't forget it's fancy dress... the theme: 'LOVE' (open to interpretation... you can come as something you love/a celeb couple/wear the colour red/or even dress up as your partner.... or yourself.... or whatever!)
