Hi, my name is Nicola, I am 28 years old and this is my story. At the age of 6 I was diagnosed with a rare form of NF2, this lead to me having my first spinal surgery to remove a tumour on my spinal cord at the age of 6, this left me paralysed for 9 1/2 months and having to learn to do everything again at Alder hey childrens hospital.

This was just the beginning. Thoughout my life I have spent a lot of time in and out of hospital, I have had multiple surgeries, chemo and more.

This has left me struggling with; Facial palsey, Bulbur palsey, Body weakness, NEAD,

Aspiration Pneumonia and I am Profoundly deaf.

I am also partially blind due to a tumour behind my eye and have had multiple spinal and brain tumours.

Sadly at this time there is no cure for Nf2.

The past year I have lost the ability to talk, eat (now have a feeding tube in stomach), cant cough or shout. I have also become weaker and have difficulty walking and now rely on a wheelchair and walking aids and I am at high risk of aspiration pneumonia and death.

I am currently going through round 3 of aspiration pneumonia. I have been told if it gets worse I will have to be ventilated and possibly get a breathing tube in my neck and would need round the clock care, it could possibly kill me or lead to a cardiac arrest and I have been told I am to weak for resuscitation.

This is what brings me here, I am trying to raise money to help towards adapting our house, so it is wheelchair friendly and so it has everything that I need downstairs, as I will no longer be able to go upstairs. Also for help towards Carers for when I go back home (currently in hospital). I am also doing this to help with funeral arrangements if I don't make it through.

I could not of got through this past year without the support of my loving and caring wife Chloe and I really dont want to leave her struggling to pay for everything including my funeral when I know it is going to be hard enough as it is.
