Story

Youth and Sports Development in Fiji

I have been offered the most amazing opportunity through Cardiff University to volunteer in Fiji this coming summer for a month through Think Pacific. Whilst there, I will be teaching children in either kindergarten or school and also help to encourage young people to get involved in sport by running sports sessions in the afternoons. I will be living with a Fijian family so will be fully immersed into the amazing culture and Fijian community.

In Fiji, 75% of children live in poverty and there is a huge lack of resources from pencils to clean drinking water - everything that we take for granted. Think Pacific aim to make an impact, and so far across the years, they have done just that. They have built 72 kindergartens to increase early years education, increased sports participation by 600% and have provided support to over 10,000+ disadvantaged children. The link above shows Think Pacific's 2017 Review, this shows the huge difference that they make to the lives of the amazing people of Fiji. I am looking forward to being part of such an incredible movement towards enhancing the lives of young children.

Your donation will go towards the project fee - which includes a 30% donation which supports communities and schools long term - and help towards travel costs. It will provide me with the opportunity of a lifetime to really make a difference to a community less fortunate than our own.

Thank you so much,

Chloe
