Story

Our Tibetan Community UK North Association spearheads Everest Base Camp fundraising trek to Nepal in October 2019. We are delighted to be working in partnership with highly respected The Walking & Climbing Company headed by Kalsang Sherpa la & Susie Baer la. Experience this once in a life time opportunity to raise money for both Tibetan and UK Charities. With money raised going to both Mind charity (UK) and Tibetan Community UK (North Association) to keep the Tibetan culture, identity and language alive.

Why am I doing this?

My vision is to take our group fund raising to the next level and raise as much money as possible. I want to keep our community alive through regular community gatherings and social get together. Keeping our Tibetan language, culture and identity is so important to every Tibetan living here in the UK. It would be truly marvellous and a dream if we could raise as much money as possible to be able to secure a hall / property for our children to learn Tibetan both reading and writing here in the North of England. This may be a project which take 2-5 years to fully complete however, this would be a great step in the right direction.

What is my relationship to the beneficiary?

Previously I held the role of chairman for the community which I helped setup back in 2014. This I did for a period of 4 years. Now I hold the position of Online & PR Co-ordinator for the community as a volunteer. I feel that as a Tibetan we don't get these types of opportunities very often and we have to grab it with both hands. It gives me tremendous joy & pleasure to be working so closely with both Kalsang la & Susie la from The Walking & Climbing Company. After many months in the planning and various breakfast meetings we are finally in a position to make this happen. Secondly it has always been a dream of mine to trek to Everest Base Camp and get as close to Tibet as possible. For many Tibetans like myself, born in India, educated and living in the UK we have never seen our country of Tibet! This would be the closest we are likely to get in our lifetime.

Where is the beneficiary location?

The TCB UK North Association is based in Manchester, North West of England however, we have many Tibetans & members scattered all over South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Lancashire, Merseyside and Nottinghamshire.

Who is the fundraiser for?

The fundraiser is for the Tibetan Community UK (North Association). Our community has been established since February 2014 and we have done many different mini fund raisers over the year's however, this will be our biggest challenge to date. We are also very passionate about working in partnership with the "Mind Charity" where so many people suffer from mental health and instability and we feel as a community this is a great charity to support. Mind Charity welcomes Everest Base Camp Trek in partnership with TCB UK North Association. Please help me and support my worthwhile cause and any sponsorship donation would be greatly appreciated.

With your help "dreams" can truly become a reality, thank you for your kind support & generosity. All donations and sponsorship's will be most greatly appreciated and received.
