Ash has cancer, is separated from his wife, living alone at a distance from his kids. Because of COVID-19, he is now also isolating. He simply wanted someone to talk to. We helped. Ash gets a call at least twice a week
Margaret has early onset dementia, but responds well to conversation. She is 85 years old and living alone. Her daughter thought regular calls from someone else would greatly help to keep her mum stimulated. We helped. Margaret is feeling comfortable with our calls now.
Tom's hospital treatment was cancelled, due to the Covid-19 emergency and he is now isolated. He needs shopping and meds regularly. We helped. Yesterday Tom got a date for his treatment restarting, but needed new meds urgently. We helped. We wish Tom all the best with his new treatment.
Francys is isolating. Noticed bad smell from outside house. Drains blocked. We helped. Drains free now!
Chorley Buddies is a group of volunteers trying to help ease problems associated with isolation due to the Covid-19 emergency. We now work with Chorley Borough Council to assign our volunteers as Phone, Shopping and Meds Buddies.
Our ability to respond to referrals is based on a telephone system given to us for free for 90 days. If we do not raise the funds to pay for the system when the trial runs out, our ability to help will be greatly diminished.
We've helped others, can you help us now? Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
