Story
Bonnie and I will be aiming to walk 1000 miles over the course of 2017 starting from January 1st. We have already covered 416 miles this year, with 6 months left. We will also be undertaking a number of challenge walks throughout the year and have completed the South Wales 3 Peaks Trial and Big Black Mountain Challenge. Please sponsor us, either to complete the challenges or complete the distance.
In February 2014 my Dobermann, Cody, died. Being a dog lover, I found life too quiet and sad without a dog so I decided to re-home another dobermann. That was when I found FOND.
Dedicated to the welfare of Dobermanns, Friends of Northern Dobermanns Limited, or for ease ‘FOND’, is a non-profit making limited company run and supported entirely by volunteers. FOND concentrates its rescue resources in various parts of the North of England but chiefly Scotland where there is scant provision for the breed at present.
FOND re-home wherever an appropriate home becomes available for the dog concerned. A small organisation, FOND make the best use of limited funding by restricting our geographical area.
Often it is not ideal to re-home dogs from one home to another. In some cases we have to remove dogs immediately from situations where they are at risk or the owner is in dire straights having been made homeless. In these cases we care for the dogs in kennels until they are ready to go to their new home.
Kennelling provides a vital refuge for some of our Dobermanns, possibly for the first time in their lives. It can mean the difference between a Dobermann in crisis and a Dobermann in care.
Rusty’s sad story is a pertinent example of why we so appreciate and need all of your support. Veterinary fees in a supreme effort to diagnose and treat Rusty came to £1,018.73 – but tragically, on this occasion, FOND were not successful (but the bills still had to be paid). This young dog was worth every penny of that input. Please help FOND to continue caring for the Dobermanns in our care.

Me and Bonnie live in Monmouth in Wales. I rehomed Bonnie 2 years ago with the help of FOND. We are regularly out walking and exploring the local area including the Wye Valley and Brecon Beacons.
