Story

My wife has been chronically ill for over 40 years. During all this time I have cared for her by myself while running the house and earning a living through my own business, working from home. She has been in a great deal of pain all this time with various physical illnesses including Fibromyalgia. These illnesses and the medical profession telling her for many years that it was "all in the mind" caused her to become Agoraphobic, chronically depressed and to suffer severe anxiety. This has totally ruined her life. She was never well enough to have children or to enjoy life like everyone else. She has lost her family and most of her friends.

We coped until the financial crash of 2008. Since then we have progressively been getting into further and further trouble. In May 2016 we had to take out an Independent Voluntary Arrangement (I.V.A.), as we owe a lot of money to the Inland Revenue (mainly VAT). Normally an I.V.A. is for five years but the Revenue only gave us just eighteen months. I have worked very hard to pay over £25,000 to them in this time, but they have now decided that unless we can find most of the remainder (£20,000) by the end of October they will take our house from us. It will be my wife’s 70th birthday in October.

Personally I would cope with this. However the effect upon my wife would be the last straw. Our home is her total security. Her illnesses have made her terrified of losing that security. I know that If she was thrown out of our home she would never get over it. I think it would finally be the end of her life. I haven’t yet been able to tell her she is about to be made homeless.

The worry of all this is virtually killing me. I can only think of crowd funding as an answer. Please help us.
