Story
Peaking Ducks – Three Peaks Challenge
Chris Duck was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma brain cancer in July 2017. In August, the tumour was successfully removed during a six-hour operation. Chris’ surgery was followed in November by multiple cycles of radio- and chemotherapy, which ended in April 2018. At this time, Chris’ MRI scans were clear, but he will need another scan every three months for the rest of his life.
Over three days in September, Chris and six friends (Sean Bishop, Paul Goodge, Mike Hoskin, Martyn Lipscombe, Mike Mason, and Ady Wilmot) will be climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon: the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales. They are raising money for the Glioma Neurosurgery Research Group, by supporting the Oxford Brain Tumour Research Fund. This is an important cause for Chris, and others affected by glioblastoma.
Your donation will support the development of personalised approaches for brain tumour surgery, which remains the first-line treatment for this type of cancer.
