I'm raising £5000 to Taking on Ironman 70.3 for Kye's recovery

Story

My name is Chris and I’m setting up this fundraising page for Kye, who is currently fighting for his life in a coma following a devastating road traffic accident.

Kye, aged 27, was riding his motorcycle within the speed limit when a van pulled out on him in a completely non-fault accident.

He is currently in the Major Trauma ICU at Royal Stoke Hospital after suffering multiple life-threatening injuries, including:

• A broken back

• A shattered left femur, which required emergency surgery where surgeons inserted a metal rod to stabilise the bone

• A fractured right arm

• Three broken ribs

• Liver lacerations

• Severe chest trauma causing his right lung to collapse

• Bilateral pneumothorax (air around both lungs)

Due to the trauma to his chest and lungs, doctors have had to place Kye back on a ventilator and intubate him again to support his breathing while his lungs recover.

Just two months ago, Kye proudly started his own company, KM24 Roadside Assistance, helping HGV drivers when they break down on the roadside. It was something he worked incredibly hard to build from nothing, and he had only just launched it before this terrible accident changed everything.

To make things even more heartbreaking for the family, Kye’s nan passed away just last week. While they are trying to cope with this loss and organise her funeral, they are also facing the reality of Kye’s long and difficult recovery ahead.

The NHS doctors and nurses have been incredible, and we cannot thank them enough for the care they are giving him.

However, when Kye is strong enough to leave ICU, he will face a long road of rehabilitation. Early specialist physiotherapy and trauma rehabilitation can make a huge difference to recovery after injuries like these, but waiting lists can often be very long.

To support Kye during this fight, I will be taking on Ironman 70.3 Bolton to raise funds that will help him access specialist rehabilitation and physiotherapy as soon as he is medically ready.

The goal is to give Kye the best possible chance of walking again, regaining his independence, and hopefully one day returning to the business he worked so hard to start.

Any donations will go towards specialist rehabilitation, physiotherapy and recovery support. The family will maintain full transparency with receipts for any treatment funded.

If you are able to donate or even just share this page, it would mean the world and could genuinely help change the course of Kye’s recovery.

Thank you for taking the time to read Kye’s story and for supporting him during the hardest time of his life.
