Story
I'm raising £10,000 in memory of my husband, Allan Gilliver, who passed away on the 23rd December 2025
Since Gillys diagnosis in 2011 we have always been involved with local dementia groups through research work at Bradford University also by supporting and volunteering at local dementia cafes and groups whilst we were still able to
We helped set up Bradford Memories cafe in 2018 (Napoleans Casino every Wednesday afternoon) and, following covid were involved in a new group, Guiseley Memories cafe (Guiseley Cricket Club every Friday afternoon)
Gilly also attended Wrose Buddies and Wrose Dementia Friendly Group, both at St Cuthberts Church in Wrose
These cafes and groups play such an important role in supporting people with dementia and the people who love and care for them
They certainly saved my sanity as, being a carer for someone with dementia , even if you love them, can be a very hard and lonely road
All the groups we have supported are run by amazing volunteers week in and week out. They depend on fundraising to keep going. They have no government or NHS support, in fact two of them had their funding withdrawn in 2024
If you could help us raise money in Gillys memory to enable these groups to continue providing help, support, friendship , love and laughter to those who attend and need it ,what a legacy that would be for him
Thank you for reading my story
