Story

I am a pioneer vicar working with the Opshops network (www.opshops.co.uk) I manage a warehouse which works with people who struggle to find work, run a men in sheds project and a community garden which helps to reduce loneliness and isolation, working closely with mental health services/homeless hostel/social services. We use our vicarage as a community house, having community meals twice a week, and have a room for homeless young people. We are learning what it means to share life with the people we are in community with. We have a pattern of prayer which helps us to reflect on our community practices of Hospitality, Simplicity, Peace, Resistance and Prayer.

Our next dream is to be able to offer mini adventures for people from these communities to enjoy spending time in the mountains, getting the benefits of interacting with nature, achieving something, physical exercise and exploring spirituality in the outdoors. For us to be able to do that I will need to do some training and pass a course. Here we are looking for help to fund the training. I will be walking the full length of the Lake district pilgrimage which is 275 km with 18,400 meters of ascent which is like going up England's highest mountain twenty times. Climbing the scrambles, but avoiding small sections of rock climbing. I intend to do this route over 3 long weekends, wild camping along the way. Some of these routes I hope to revisit with people once I have become qualified.

Any additional funds raised will go towards funding the exam. Thank you so much for your support!
