Story
On Monday 18th September at 10.10pm, Chris Hood was almost home after a long 12 hour shift at work. As Chris crossed Brays Road to get to his house, a light coloured Astra, travelling at around 70mph, collided with Chris and failed to stop.
Chris suffered extensive damage to multiple organs, cuts to his head and on Wednesday the 20th his lower left leg was unable to be saved and was amputated. It is a miracle that Chris survived the collision, but he did survive, and we want to do everything we can to help Chris recover from the accident.
The aim of this page is to raise £20,000 towards a top of the range prosthetic leg that is not available from the NHS. Chris walks and cycles everywhere and is hugely active; just a few weeks ago Chris completed a gruelling 12 mile Tough Mudder obstacle course. Having a state of the art prosthetic leg will mean that he can keep up with the lifestyle that he is so used to and will help make his transition into life with a prosthetic that little bit easier.
Chris is a funny and caring man and an amazing father to a beautiful 9 year old daughter, he is loved dearly by his family, friends and everyone who knows him. Please donate and help Chris get the prosthetic he deserves.
Thank you for reading Chris' story, if you have any information regarding the hit and run you can contact the police here: http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/sheldon-hit-run-victim-chris-13653531

7 years agoChris is on the mend! I think we can all agree that Chris IS Superman. After being hit at 80mph it as an utter miracle how amazing Chris' recovery is coming along. His memory is getting there, strength is coming back, he can finally eat food and his handwriting is better than before :p Next week it's time to start trying out a new NHS foot to get Chris back up and out of that hospital bed! Go Chris! We love you so much x

I'm Chris' brother & this is Chris' official fund raising page for a prosthetic leg. Chris is not yet awake from his induced coma, but I know how much he will appreciate waking up to lots of support from his family, friends and well wishers. Please dig deep and share this page
