This May I am aiming to walk 103.6 miles and raise vital funds for LCR FM, Lincoln's ONLY Local Community Radio Station.

LCR FM 103.6 is a SELF FUNDED not-for-profit organisation and is THE local community radio station for Lincoln and surrounding area, which can also be heard online via the website, mobiles, tablets, Tunein, and via smart speakers.

This year marks its 14th year of community radio broadcasting. It costs approximately £1,800 EVERY month to run; pay the rent, licence fees, and day to day overhead costs, and relies totally on advertising and fundraising, with everyone from presenters to the backroom staff unpaid volunteers who gladly give up their time for free.

Broadcasting from two state-of-the-art studios at Oak House, Witham Park on Waterside South in the heart of Lincoln, LCR FM have an estimated audience of over 25,000 daily listeners, which for many this is their lifeline and only source of company.

They play a mix of music from the 50’s right up to the present day which is reflected in its strapline, ‘Playing the Music of Your Life’, with guest interviews, local features, and information at the fore. In the evenings and at weekends its programmes are more led by specialist genres of music. There really is something for everyone!

Its daily ‘What’s On’ diary is extremely popular, and it encourages groups, organisations, and charities to come in and talk on air, to publicise their charitable cause or discuss local topics for which there is no charge.
