Story

Hi. This page will be open until 30th May!

Thanks for visiting!

So as you may know, I spent six months living and teaching in Burundi.

I will be going back to visit in June. I have been speaking with an old colleague and friend about a newschool which opened in 2014, Ruziba Blessing School.

The school was built in a very poor area South of the capital, Bujumbura. I am fundraising for this school as it is where I believe aid is needed most, they have no help from international aid.

Currently, the school has 132 students, 7 teachers and 2 assistants.

Some challenges hindering the achievement of the school are:

1. Limited land which does not allow students to thrive in playing and learning

2. Currently in a rented premises

3. Poor salary of staff members

4. Lack of school materials and equipment: library, books, game materials

5. Poor classrooms: small and of poor quality

6. The school was recently hit by a big wind storm

The curriculum is in French with a good amount of time allocated to English language to prepare them for integration within the East African Community.

While the school needs serious investment to get it to where it needs to be, my aim is to at least create a dent into it’s extreme difficulties by raising funds to provide supplies and support. I will be able to take some supplies with me and some things I will buy out there.

What your support will be able to do is bring some hope to the children by supplying:

1.English, reading and text books for the whole school

2. Shelves and tables in each classroom

3. Arts and craft sets

4. Children’s toys

5. Material for outdoor games

6. Classroom

7. Stationery

Thank you for reading.
