Story

On September 11th, Orio was able to single-handedly fix an elevator in the South Tower of the World Trade Center and take it up to the 41st floor sky lobby (he worked as an elevator mechanic prior to becoming a fireman). Once at the 41st floor, he went on to run up 37 flights of stairs to reach the plane’s impact zone on the 78th floor. Orio was met there by Fire Marshal Ronald Bucca; they were the only first responders to reach the impact zone that day. There Orio reported, “Numerous 10-45s, code ones” AKA fatalities. Orio directed survivors of the impact how to get out of the building, relayed essential information to firemen below over the radio in an attempt to form a strategy to combat the flames and evacuate survivors, and brought comfort to those stuck & injured on the 78th floor by assuring them that help was coming.i live in scotland this gy was a true hero and what man should be he climbed 12 floors in 10 minutes in full bunker gear the people who saw him must have realised there was hope a way out i would like to reach a target to donate to his former fdny company to build a statue at ground zero to remember what he achieved and what a hero he was on that day, people will be able to see his statue and a plaque and help his memory and what he did to try and save over 700 people, please help us reach this target xxx
