I've raised £500 to Support the Cannon Bald Run 2022 by donating to Parathyroid UK an amazing charity that without them I probably wouldn’t be here today.

A bit about my Story and Parathyroid UK:

I was diagnosed with a rare auto immune disease called Auto Immune Hypoparathyroidism which in my case means I cant absorb or regulate Calcium and magnesium naturally. 3 years ago I was told I had 2 years to go before Dialysis with a limited life expectancy after that. This has been caused after taking medication for 23 years that had a byproduct of destroying my kidneys 80-90% filled with calcification (Nephrocalcinosis). At my worst point I was passing kidney stones every couple of weeks which resulted in 8 very painful emergency surgeries and 3 kidney faliures.

The amazing team at Parathyroid UK helped fight for a medication called Natpara which is a synthetic Parathyroid hormone (PTH). After a long fight the amazing NHS came through and I have now been on Natpara for just under two years With amazing results. They haven’t been able to cure the disease but have slowed down the inevitable so I get more precious time with my family and friends. Since starting Natpara I got the news that my kidney function has returned to where it was over 15 years ago!

I know times are hard at the moment and everything seems to be getting frighteningly expensive, this also has an impact on small charities like Parathyroid UK. Anything donated however small will go to a great cause. link to their website below.
