Story
On 11th June 2017 Chris Toon suffered a horrific motorbike accident which has sadly left him with many broken bones including his back. He is now coming to terms with the fact that, at the age of 32, he will never walk again.
The accident was not anyone's fault, the back wheel of Chris's bike started snaking and Chris knew that he would have to do something. He had the choice of ploughing into a group of cyclists on the other side of the road or taking himself into a ditch - he chose the ditch, saving the cyclists but severely injuring himself.
To make things even harder for Chris, he has no close family members. His mother is disabled and in a home, he doesn't know his father and he has never been very close to his step family as they were brought up separately from him. This may sound very personal information, but could you imagine being in this situation without your family by your side?
Despite all of this and the extent of Chris's injuries, and the long and challenging journey of rehabilitation that lies ahead of him, Chris remains remarkably positive.
Chris has many saxophone and flute students, he is a great teacher who inspires his pupils, gets results and makes music fun. His students miss him and look forward to him teaching them again. Chris is determined that he will be back to teaching and playing his flute and saxophone as soon as possible.
To be able to do this, though, he will need a specialist wheelchair which is likely to cost over £10,000.

If you could possibly give anything to this cause YOUR HELP WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

7 years agoI will be closing this page shortly so that the funds can be made available to Chris for the alteraltions to being made to his house, ready for his return home. The funds raised so far will not only pay for his specialized chair but will also begin to help with the lift and wet room and other alterations being made to his house. A new page will be opened with the same web address so if you or anyone you know still wish to donate you will still be able to. Once again thank you so much for your support.

7 years agoChris is amazed and incredibly grateful for all of the generosity shown to him on his justgiving page. Although we have more than doubled the original target it would be amazing if people could keep giving. This would ensure Chris could adapt his home in the best way possible to aid him to regain his independence. Thank you.

As friends and colleagues of Chris's we have seen how devastated Chris's pupils were to hear about Chris and how he now has much rehabilitation ahead without family by his side. We want to help him get back to teaching/playing - for this he will need a specialist wheelchair.
