Story

I was proud in 2018 to be appointed County Commissioner for Cambridgeshire Scouts and with it the opportunity to lead 6,800 young people, aged 6 to 25 years, and 2,500 amazing adult volunteers that make Scouting in Cambridgeshire happen.

Each week, our 6,800 young people enjoy fun, friendship and outdoor adventure. They develop a sense of opportunity. They develop a sense of optimism and strong values as well as the leadership and teamwork skills that are more valuable today than ever before.

I am 60 years old in 2019 and to recognise this milestone in my life I am raising funds to help me to drive specific projects in Cambridgeshire Scouts. Initially, I intend to support the fund-raising for the five young adult volunteers leading the 45 strong Cambridgeshire Scouts contingent to the 24th World Scout Jamboree in Virginia, USA during summer 2019. Everyone, including the adult volunteers, have to raise £3,500 to participate and they are all busy with lots of fund-raising projects to make this happen.

As Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life. We bring communities together and contribute to society. Above all we aim to build better futures. The World Scout Jamboree is a fantastic example of this.

Thankyou for your support
