Weʼve raised £157 to help fund the restoration of St Matthew’s Church in Widcombe, Bath

    Widcombe, Bath
Funded on Wednesday, 28th April 2021

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

St Matthew’s is a much larger church than St Thomas, Widcombe’s other church, built for the Victorians, to accommodate the growing population of Widcombe. On construction, seating was installed for some 1250 worshippers. It is now being developed as a vibrant community resource.

With its location high above Widcombe Locks, and its vast broach tower visible from across the city, along with its desire to welcome, bless, serve and be a spiritual home for many, St Matthew’s identity as a true light on a hill was born.

St Matthew’s is the largest church in Bath, with the exception of the Abbey, and consequently is an amazing venue for gatherings and events.

Lovely to see restorations for a local church building. This will help ensure an improved environment for community and church goers. People will hopefully feel more at home in a enchaced indoor space
